Wool conference - 2nd day (ENG)

On 17-18 November 2022 an international wool conference was held in Viljandi, Estonia, focusing on the use of wool in Estonia. The aim of the conference was to introduce the properties and uses of wool and to encourage people to use more local wool in a sustainable way. 

Presentations on the second day of the conference focused on examples of Estonian wool processing and production. An exhibition of projects and studies from the Estonian Academy of Arts, Tartu Art College Pallas and UT Viljandi Culture Academy was set up in the Folk Music Centre. At the cooperation fair, visitors could get acquainted with the activities of local businesses, and there were also a sorting workshop, a tour of the Vilma house and a spinning competition. Scholarships in the name of Anu Raua were awarded and the new issue of Studia Verncula was presented.

  • „Evaluation and Quality of Wool“ / Kaie Ahlskog (animal husbandry specialist, ProAgria Etelä-Suomi ry);
  • „Using Wastewool to Replace Bubblewrap“ / Kert Jalakas (Woola LLC);
  • „Wool User's Perspective on the Example of MÄÄ Wool Pellet Production“ / Mihkel Peedimaa (development manager, Villatoode LLC);
  • „From Local Wool to High-quality Carpet - Enthusiasm or Enterpreunership?“ / Aivi Valliste (carpet master at Tekero floor company, Kihnu Native sheep farmer).
