Prof. Wolfgang Minker: Spoken Dialogue in Technical Companion Systems

Spoken Language Dialogue Systems (SLDSs), with which the user can have access to computerbased applications, have been an active research area for many years. In this presentation, we will provide an overview on our research activities in the domain of assistive, adaptive and proactive SLDSs for nextgeneration technical companions in Ambient Intelligent Environments.

Florian Nothdurft: Trust and Explanations in Human-Computer Interaction

Maintaining and enhancing the willingness of a user to interact with a technical system is crucial for human-computer interaction. Trust has shown to be an important factor influencing the willingness and kind of usage. In this talk we present our work on using explanations to maintain the trust relationship between human and computer. We present our approach of a modular explanation architecture being able to provide knowledge- and trust-adaptive explanations.
